Grand Friday Masque-Male
Standing totally apart from all other natural magic of Maldives, it is one of the very few architectural gems in this island nation. This mosque is the largest in Maldives and it was build by Sultan Ibrahim Iskandhar in the year 1656. Grand Friday Mosque can intake upto 5000 people at a time. The Golden dome of the mosque is its biggest attraction that can be seen from a distance as well. Being in the center of Male, it is very easy to access from all parts of the city.
National Museum
The building in which the National museum is housed was once a royal palace, so you will be able to see a unique artistic sculpture that you normally don't associate with museums. This museum was open to general public in the year 1952 and was inaugurated by the prime minister of the Maldives, Meer Mohamed Amin Didi. The main objective of opening the museum was to protect the rich history of great Maldives, and after exploring the museum, one can say that the job has been done, perfectly. The display in the museum includes dresses worn by kings and queens, important paper and cloth, weaponry and other pernicious objects.
Mulee Aage Palace – Male
This place was built in the year of 1906 by Sultan Mohamed Shamsuddeen III, the palace still shining with the same old glory as before, and that too without any heavy renovations. After the king was overthrown, the palace was announced as a government property and after independence; this lustrous white palace became the official residence of the President. Today, it is used as the office of President.
